Something Borrowed... Something Blue... - Chick Lit Love
Because you can't get enough
Something Borrowed... Something Blue...
No, I am soooooo not getting married. But I did finish reading these two books and would like to know what people thought of them, if you read them. I have my thoughts, but I like to hold discussions. Which character did you enjoy most: Rachel or Darcy? Why? What do you think about what RAchel did? Was she right to do it? Was she wrong? What would you have done differently? What about Darcy? How do you feel about the relationship between the two girls??

OMG... so many questions. I just wish I had someone closer (distance wise) to talk to about these books!! Let me know.

I really actually loved Darcy more, especially in the second book when she grew up, plus she was just more fun. What Rachel did is forgivable due to the circumstances. I hope to never find myself in that posistion but it takes two to tango so she is not the only one at fault, if Dex wanted her so much to cheat on Darcy, although she did the same, he should have broke it off and made headway to Rachel not kept the farce up longer prolonging Rachel's guilt at hurting her best friend, well sorta best friend its kinda love-hate I am better than you between them. I am glad to find someone on LJ who loved these books as much as my sister and I did.

Emily Griffin has become my favorite author at the moment. I was in love with Kinsella's work, but I love how detailed Griffin is with her work. I admit, i really disliked Darcy at the beginning of "Blue." She was just sooo self-centered. I am happy with the way she changed, and I think in that sense she became my favorite. I had enjoyed Rachel's experience and finally topping Darcy in "Borrowed." It was like, "finally, the 'unseen' is noticed." I was rooting for her and Dex, but I do agree with you. Dex should have ended things earlier and not leave that sole burden on Rachel. I was shocked to read about what Darcy had done though. I remember jumping like mad when I found out about the pregnancy. I couldn't believe Darcy had done what she did. But, I am happy to see that you and I see that it was not that incriminating. I mean, both parties were at fault, not just one. Yes, I did enjoy it and look forward to reading more Griffin books in the future. Thanks for your comment!

I recently finished reading these books... Darcy made me so frustrated and angry in the beginning of Something Blue... she was all about herself and seemed to want to compete with Rachel for everything in her life. Honestly cheating on someone is a horribly wrong thing to do, but you can't help who you love, and it seems Rachel loved Dex from the beginning but didn't know how to connect with her feelings... So I really don't think it was anyone's fault in that case, after all Dex didn't love Darcy. In the end of Something Blue it was nice to read that Darcy had finally come around and became a better person towards others. It was sad to read that although Darcy and Rachel made up, that they didn't talk that often... it's a little much. But I love Emily Giffin's novels. I can't wait until I can sink into Baby Proof.

I didn't like Darcy in Borrowed and around a quarter into Blue, but I didn't really like Rachel, either. I understood her feelings and her actions, but she actually angered me, the way she refused to stop being friends with Darcy even if she loved her fiance and clearly didn't like her that much at all. I think I was pushed forward by my interest in the character and the story rather than wanting to see my favourite character be happy...but then at the end of Blue I loved Darcy, and I loved her with Ethan. Maybe it's just because I love the gradual kind of love much more than the "ohh, passionate, I now feel things for you!" kind of thing.
